DJ Fresh – Gold Dust & Flux Pavillion Remix
From his early days as one of the founding members from Bad Company (with D-Bridge, Maldini & Vegas making up the ), DJ Fresh has always been a solid producer. Bad Company brought a whole new sound to tech-step/neurofunk drum n bass sound in the late 90s with killer tunes like The Nine & Nitrous that made you move uncontrollably. It takes me back to when I first really started getting into drum n bass and enjoying it.
One of my favourite Fresh tracks of all time is Tomb Raider. Man, when that track used to drop in a mix it was crazy. Really cool Western samples too and funky as fuck. The drop I’m talking about comes in halfway through the track with a big orchestral buildup. Then with the sound of a sewer cap unscrewing a horse pulls in and a guy goes “Easy boy, that bassline ain’t even dropped yet” – then the drop. Brilliant.
Moving swiftly into the future – he’s about to launch a new album called Kryptonite which should be available in August. His first single off the album (scheduled for release on August 1 this year) is Gold Dust featuring the vocal talents of none other than Ce’cile…
I know you can’t get enough of my sound
True dat. Check out the video clip below for the track, directed by Ben Newman:
Ok and straight onto the Flux Pavillion Remix:
\m/ – It’s like going to the dentist. I mean the drilling resonance in the main bassline. If the dentist was the dancefloor metaphorically speaking
Wow, just wow. The sounds that Flux has worked out have turned Fresh’s efforts into an epic tune.
Here’s a minimix by Fresh previewing the rest of the forthcoming album (sounding pretty good):
