DNB Tunes of the week by Reso (DC Breaks remix), Raiden & DJ SS (Bladerunner remix)
This weeks selection is a bit on the dark side but I’m a sucker for that so it’s good right?
The first track is a remix by DC Breaks of a Reso vs Vent track called Rumble (Here’s the original dubstep version – madness!). The “rumble” sample reminds me a bit of Dizzee Rascal’s “bonkers” hehe. Anyways, here we go – Nice spiritual intro… launches into some heavy as sh*t drum n bass. But it’s all about the 2nd drop. If you haven’t spontaneously combusted by 2mins into the track you’ll find a nice break down but don’t be fooled by DC Breaks’ crafty work – hang onto your seat. Lock and load. Boh! I’m gonna check out Vent’s tunes tomorrow methinks…
Reso Vs. Vent – Rumble (DC Breaks Remix)
This next track is just pure amen bliss with a nice ravey twist, remixed by Bladerunner (from Ray Keith’s label Dread Recordings) to an old DJ SS tune called ‘Black’. Brilliant female vocals so soothing throughout the track. The bassline is really dark and lends itself nicely to the amens. The structure is very old school but that’s great. There’s so much focus on producing too many layers, too many build ups, double drops, triple drops – the simplicity of this track is what sets it appart.
DJ SS – Black (Bladerunner Remix):
Onto track 3 by Raiden called Vo Dub which is cut out of a mix but hey, I heard it as part of a mix by Anile for the Risky’s D&B Arena podcast #144. This is just a solid funky roller. Definately needs big speakers or headphones to appreciate the deep bass. Also, the guts of the track doesn’t really kick in until over 2mins in, which is a bit of a tease. Look forward to the full release!
